Hello Wonderful Dojo Family! Wow have we ever had an eventful month! 2 tournaments, lots of learning, Sensei Billey's new house, the 4th of July party.....and everything has been wonderful! Thank you to all the competitors and supporters for the Carbondale Tournament! We had 13 competitors who took 49 medals (28 Gold, 16 Silver and 5 Bronze) PLUS Laykn Whaley took Grand Champion of her division. The belt looks good on her! AND we had family members, coaches and friends who all pulled together to make it a very special trip. We learned, we grew, we taught, we made friends and we got closer together. Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and loving hands! This coming month we will have a special Black Belt Class on the 11th during what is normally the lunch hour. These special classes are meant to give the black belts some time to improve their own skills, discuss things they want to propose for the dojo, and solve any challenges that are on the horizon. On the 25th we will have an EZ Defense for Women (another one on July 15th). This one is filling fast, so if you or someone in your life has not yet had the class but wants to take it, call immediately to register. Facilitators and woofers, would you please email me and let me know if you will be helping out with one or both of the sessions? Are you interested in becoming a part of EZ Defense? It is a rewarding and satisfying experience. We would love to train more volunteers (male AND female), so let me know if you are interested. As we look into the Fall, we have some great things coming up. We will begin an after-school program, with pick-up in the Cedar Bluff area. Sensei Billey, Sensei Toni, Meg McSorley and Kim Counts will all be on hand to help the children with homework, classes, crafts, games and special topic educational times. We will be using the upstairs as well as the dojo areas and we will have no more than 10 children. Please tell your friends now so we can get them registered while there are still spots. A great alternative to daycare, the children will have lots of love, activity and fun! On the 16th of July, we will be at SideSplitters again. We have free tickets for the night, and Stacy says this show will be very, very funny. Send an email if you would like tickets! The weekend of 17th, Master Black is sending one of his students to learn Kendo. Elana Floyd-Kennett is very nice and very enthused! Would anyone like to go see the new Harry Potter movie that Friday night (she's a fan!) Saturday will be full of intensive learning and everyone is invited! We are looking to have an in-dojo tournament this fall! Keep looking for details! Remember that October is NOT that far away! If you have things to donate for the annual Auction, hold onto them and bring them in anytime! Thank you everyone, new students and seasoned ones, for the wonder, blessings and privilege of being part of your martial arts education!
